Re: Kong: Skull Island (2017)

How can something so stupid be entertaining? Sometimes removing the shackles of common sense and realism offer a path to guilty entertainment. I don't think you need to feel guilty about it. If you take pleasure out of something, then you take pleasure out of it. Not everything needs to be intellec...

An "All" search category.

Remove the need to switch between films, people collections etc. Have an "all" category, and just show the most relevant results between every category by default.

Exclude short films from filmmaker averages.

I really like to know what the average scores for my filmmakers are, but the problem is that by giving shorts and feature lengths the same value makes this inaccurate and It has dissuaded me from rating shorts so far. Furthermore, I like to know how accurate my filmmaker averages are. For example, I...

Re: Two statements on the state of cinema

Yeah, RT should definitely not be treated as any sort of bible, but I do find it quite useful. It gives me a good indicator of if the movie is worth my time or money. I can decide how much I like/dislike a movie for myself, but when you have a busy life you do have to pick and choose a bit. Thankful...

Re: Two statements on the state of cinema

I really don't think Rotten Tomatoes should be seen as an indicator of what the greatest films are. It's simply a binary "did you enjoy this movie or not", and that isn't a measure of greatness but it still is a measure of appeal. Often times movies in the 90%+ reach that level because the...

Re: video games please

I stumbled across Criticker because of my interest in film, and it has been such a wonderful experience. The thing is, Critickers recomendation system is such a powerful tool that beats just about anything out there. I'd certainly love integration of video games - but why stop there? If we're doing ...

Re: Are some award categories redundant, and elitist?

What if we had "Best White Actor" and "Best Black Actor" Do you consider it genre-ist that the Golden Globes only have the categories "Comedy/Musical" and "Drama"?] I mean I don't think its a great idea. Genre is a dying idea. Most films are a mix of two or t...

What if we had "Best White Actor" and "Best Black Actor"

Is that racist, and if yes, how is that any different?

Are some award categories redundant, and elitist?

Best Animated Feature & Best Foreign Language film Doesn't having these awards discourage nominating them for best picture? Very few animated and foreign language films get nominated for best picture. This is probably due to the older generation (the average academy member is 63 years old) cons...

Re: Can you give a movie an 'N/A' rating?

I like the idea. I don't rank films that I saw pre-cricker, but then again i like the idea of having criticker as a collection of every movie you've ever seen. At some point when you have lurked around criticker for long enough you'll probably be able to find about 99%
