That's too harsh. It's an average Yuen Chor fantasy. If you didn't like it, better avoid his other movies. Or any fantasy wuxia from Shaw Bros.

They sometimes can be a good way of listing the better "achievements" within a narrow subgenre or very specific niches that have 'repetition' as a main trait. Say, Shaw Brothers' movies. Everything becomes "old" after 15 years or so. The time it takes from one generation of young kids/teenagers to pass and grow mature a bit.
