Re: S'up w/Kutcher
I guess I didn't realize that Jobs is disliked by liberals? Seems weird to me, since he's something of a god among the tech industry, which as whole tends to be quite liberal. And isn't it a bit strange to attack the liberal media for the response to Jobs? I mean, it'd be fair to attack the liberal ...

Re: S'up w/Kutcher
I'm merely asking the questions. What's your take, particularly on what Kutcher said? I thought it was a good message and one that the audience probably doesn't hear often enough. I don't think there's really much more to it than that. I fail to see any connection with Obama or the liberal media.

Re: S'up w/Kutcher
I was proud to hear it but I don't know what's behind it ( Jobs opens this weekend to lukewarm [liberal media?] reviews so-far). Is it a shift in his outlook, a new two-sided subtext in Hollywood, or what? Oliver Stone said this week, “Obama is a snake. He’s a snake. And we have to turn on him,”; “...

I had no idea 2012 was such a big success; that's insane. I have seen 40/50 because, apparently, I'm a whore.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Well, here I am reviewing another Harry Potter film- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - trying to narrow down what makes them so entertaining. Is it the story? For while the story for the first film was a bit weak, they've certainly improved as the series continues. Is it the characters? I can c...

Re: Antiscience
True, but dry-labbing (making up data) is a serious and uncommon offense I didn't mean to imply otherwise. As a self-described empiricist, I loathe people who fake science because (1) it muddies the water and (2) it gives those who oppose science ammunition for criticizing science (which is obvious...

Re: Antiscience
A little off-topic (yeah, that ship has sailed) but people should read Nicholas Naseem Taleb's Black Swan. I've had that book sitting on my shelf for maybe 5 years now and still haven't managed to read it. Maybe it'll make its way into my carry-on bag for my flight this weekend. mattorama sent me a...

Re: Antiscience
So, I figured that if Shogun would oblige me, he could provide some of the science that supports the null hypothesis (i.e, that human activity is not a significant cause of global warming). There are multiple things in this issue. Just listing down a few of them. 1. Does human activity cause global...
