Re: Knowing

Oh well it seems as if I was referring to the literal translation while you were referring to the modern view of what the term means so I can see where the mix up occurred. I would suggest watching Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed it really clears the muddy waters between the idea of intelligent d...

Re: SlumDog Millionaire

The Academy finally got one right. This was the best movie of the year. They got it right last year. This year there really wasn't an impressive nominee in the bunch. No Country For Old Men was certainly an excellent film by most standards, but it's attitude sucked. You wanna say good has no chance...

Re: Knowing

Yeah, but in the last 20-30 years or so, creationism has become the fundamentalists' "scientific" term as an answer for evolution, where God tinkers with His creation to add new creatures and stop the Sun in the sky to win battles and stuff.

Re: Knowing

As for it supporting a creationist idea it pretty firmly suggests that the aliens in this movie created our world and us or at least created us and keep moving us to new worlds. One of the themes of the movie shown to us in the beginning is whether things happen for a reason or is everything random...

Re: Knowing

----Also Spoilers---- I had one grief with the ending. While I think it was pretty ballsy to make a film that promotes a creationist theory (especially in liberal Hollywood) I wish they would have gone all the way with it and make it a biblical apocalypse since that would have been even more intere...

Knowing

<<<<<<<<<<Contains spoilers>>>>>>>>>>> A dark film with some spectacular disasters, and it actually dabbles in philosophy but the aliens and spaceships at the end sort of undercuts its credibility. Very tense and suspenseful, and brings up some food for thought in its final disaster. A better quest...

Re: I Love You, Man

but it didn't bother me too much in this film since it plays such a small part in the grand scheme of the movie's humor. . Of course I didn't time it but I thought about the first third of the movie was either gross or just dumb and didn't gel until, as I said, Segal made his appearance which chang...

Re: I Love You, Man

My point is it's the same old shit over and over, and our low expectations. I mean it was funny the first time they used it, what, 30 years ago, and they've been beating it to death ever since. And no, not beat the shit out of him, it was a misunderstanding, but not let him wallow around in there fo...

I Love You, Man

OK, gutter humor is getting out of hand. How many times are we going to laugh at someone projectile vomiting on somebody else. It isn't just gutter, it's puerile, same as every time you say butt in a movie and all the kiddies laugh. I want more. And another thing, what would you do if a guy suddenly...
