Re: "Rio 2"

A not so subtle environmentalist bit of propaganda for the kids, complete with evil capitalists. I'm sure the irony of protecting the animals who think and act like humans, even to making war, will be lost on most adults. You know they're serious because what little humor they tried was lame. Story...

the value of entertainment for its own sake not being an acceptable subject for discussion. ????? "Liberal"? Certainly I harbor no love for liberals, but, if you're referencing a post I made (something you might want to quote in the future), I only denigrate liberals. You come out of semi...

OG is technically "original gangster," but it's generally used just to mean somebody who's been around for a while.

Re: Dallas Buyers Club

This forum really needs Pickpocket to be around more. A much more entertaining dynamic! So which is the objective here, Truth or entertainment? Overall that's an excellent question to ask everyone who walks into a movie theater, and God I know what the answer would be. I look for both in movies. Ba...

Re: "Draft Day"

Costner's best in a good while. The movie was confusing at first, throwing around a lot of unfamiliar names; but by the end, the packed audience I saw it with was all in. Perhaps, Structures that used to represent those taken-for-granted moralities are seen now as devoid of moral substance. Say, religion , government , and political leadership . Truth, justice and the American Way (respectively) this is not. Also, I believe there is also a change in what is acceptab...

Re: 2014-- The Year of Religious Movies?

Here's a little rant; What irks me about the myth/history fence-sitting from the pope is it's just so unnecessary. Truth can obviously come from myth and fiction -the psychological truths of Macbeth or even the racial insights of Night of the Living Dead for example. The bible doesn't get -...

Re: Guess the movie from the image

But you know why this remake fails so miserably, because every second of its pathetic runtime, it assumes you have seen the original. Haven't seen the remake and don't plan to, but I thought this was interesting. I can't think of another remake that's like that. It almost makes me curious enough to...
