There aren't any real surprises (except for being set up by the preview), since the story is well known, but the tension is continuous towards the end. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance is excellent. But the real claim to fame here is the 3-D, which is the best ever IMHO. It isn't an effect you notice at the first and are then reminded of only occasionally after that. Don't settle for 2D, it makes this movie.
