Movie where a guy is strapped to a wheel and loose body parts

I know its older movie and the only part I can remember is that a random guy is strapped to a spinning wheel voluntary in order to win some kind of elixir I believe but some spots make you loose body parts. He eventually looses all his limbs and then lastly his head. Nothing gory, so its not a horror. I believe it was more of a post apocalyptic type movie and that is the only part I can remember
