Hi everyone,
I try to remember the name of a movie I saw a few years ago (between 2005-2011 I would say).
I think it was a nordic film in which a father has difficulties with his son.
The kid is developing patterns of a sociopath (enjoying killing animals).
At the end he has his son in the scope of his rifle wondering if he's willing to take the risk of his son to turn into a future serial killer.

Are you maybe thinking of "Thelma"?
In Thelma, it was a daughter, not a son. And the majority of the movie showed her as a young adult, in college. But, other than that, it fits with the rest of your description.
