70s/80s possibly German sci-fi movie about a computer bug

Post by unhallowed1 »

This is a movie I watched in the mid-1980s, possibly in German language. One scene shows someone at work finding a hair or something similarly insignificant, and brushing it away from her shoulder. That falls onto, and into a computer hard drive that she is next to. That somehow causes a glitch that changes the status of one male character from alive to dead. This man spends most of the movie all his best to prove to the administrators that he is in fact in front of them and very much alive. The ending is at a cemetery, where someone tries to convince him that the best way to get rid of this problem is for the man to die. They struggle, there is maybe a gun shot, and the man falls into an open grave, with a gravestone already showing his own name. Would love to know this one.

The movie you're describing is "Der Wixxer" (2004), a German comedy film directed by Tobi Baumann. The plot revolves around a man who is mistakenly declared dead due to a computer error, and he spends the majority of the film trying to prove that he is, in fact, alive. While the film's release date is later than the mid-1980s, the storyline and scenes you mentioned closely match the film.
