I understand the rationale behind watching an awful film that is unintentionally hilarious. After all, I have seen both "Plan 9 from Outer Space" as well as "Deadly Prey".

However, in both cases, the funny didn't outweigh the bad. 65 minutes of shit and 15 minutes of unintentional hilarity (in Deadly Prey's case) and 85 minutes of shit and 1 minute of unintentional hilarity (in Plan 9's case) still made for two very boring, lousy films I wish I hadn't wasted time on. In both cases, Youtube videos of the funny parts were vastly better.

But even if that wasn't the case, awful films that are hilarious are exceptionally rare. Maybe one in every hundred or even thousand bad movies qualifies. For every "The Room", there are at least 100 films that are atrocious without the redeeming comedy.

This is why I haven't seen many of the so-bad-it's-good movies. In fact, I listen religiously to the "How Did This Get Made?" podcast and have never watched a film they've done (with the exception of a few I'd seen way before the show's existence). I'm not expecting to find the Room all that funny, and god knows I've heard enough quotes from it, but it's one of those movies that's such a part of film lexicon that I will be happy to have seen it even if I don't enjoy watching it. So, in short, I agree I'm not as guilty as somebody who watches a movie like Fred: The Movie

Well everybody's going to have their own reasons for doing it, as for me I do it because I hate myself and want to suffer
