So I got a good piece of software that converts .avi and .mkv and some other formats into DVD. It can also incorporate an .srt subtitle file into the finished DVD.

However, it only works with text based subtitle files (.srt), and cannot incorporate graphics based subtitle files (.idx or .sub files). Does anyone know of a decent bit of freeware that I can burn these videos to disc with that is compatible with .idx and .sub files?

Or even better, one that can convert .sub or .idx files into the .srt format?

Thanks in advance :D

Used to do this with vobsub ages ago, seems it's still the same.

Often a 17" laptop, if quality isn't super important.

If I really want to watch a movie, then I use a blu-ray player, an HDTV, and blaring speakers.

I'm watching on a 37" philips ambilight TV with a Denon receiver and 6.1 surround set by Mordaunt-Short. Works great in my 12m2 room :P.

I use SubRip which is similar to Spunkie's software. Works like a charm, you can even fix sync issues.

For the conversion software, I've been using DVDFlick for about two years now. I tried using a cracked version of ConvertXtoDVD but it actually screwed up about every third DVD. They were completely unplayable. DVDFlick works well and fits about 2 movies per disk. Playback is high quality.

yeah DVD Flick is what I'm using but the version I have can't handle the .idx/.sub files.

I'll check out vobsub and sub rip, thanks guys.
