I rewatched Blade Runner 2049, and my opinion's flipped- from watchable let-down, to ambient delight.

it made me think of other instances where dramatic/character arc are muted or recessed, to let the ambience/spectacle bask/glisten, in compressed haze/percussive onslaught (e.g. Fury Road).

[sometimes it's helpful to turn off emotional engagement when I want to relax. or similar to songs -where I want the human voice, but not the human content, etc.. I am often too tired for ~The Godfather.]

I got 38 mins into Godard's Le mépris aka Contempt, and realised I was completely disengaged and pining to do anything else. heck.
