I tend to put a lot of people on my kumpels because I like to read a variety of different views on the film. I don't like adding anyone who doesn't consistently write reviews as I feel a blank rating doesn't really say much. Which is why I try to make a review for everything I rate.
Makes me curious as to who's following me, though. Judging from the responses on this topic, probably not that many.

I do the same. I note that you are one of my kumpels, for what it's worth.

I'm also pretty indiscriminate, basically everyone who's currently active and regularly writes reviews, plus some other inactive people that I'm hoping come back someday. That adds up to some 150 users

I have quite a lot - I will generally add anyone I come across who has a similar number or considerably more films ranked than me, or who writes perceptive or witty reviews. I do love playing around, nerd fashion, with my Kumpels' full rankings lists.

i'm halfway through a scale change and probably need to buy a TCI update, but it currently looks like this. despite the large amount i'm actually very picky and need to be fascinated by somebody's tastes to include them, for the most part. so many unique people on this site who don't write reviews, unfortunately.
Some Casual Observations Made While Creeping the Profile of Criticker User EmeraldGuard
- His username is a reference to a Confederate infantry company.
- He appears to be quite the fan of noted Third Reich filmmaker and war crimes defendant Veit Harlan, yet somewhat conspicuously has not rated what is by far the director's best known work, the Goebbels-produced propaganda film Jud Süß ("Süss the Jew").
- He would appear to be Criticker's foremost authority on Third Reich cinema in general.
- He was a member of the U.S. Navy, per his review of Down Periscope: "clever and funny, but if you weren't in the Navy you probably won't get a lot of the humor."
- He is a great admirer of both Sigur Rós and their home nation of Iceland, per his review of Heima.
- He would like us to "Note the pre-war positive depiction of Germans" in 1940's 21 Days Together.
- He feels Mel Gibson is well above Dragged Across Concrete: "What is Mel Gibson doing in this trash?"
- He sees Black Mirror as "ugly glimpses of future Britain's multicultural idiocracy."
- He is no fan of the Second Vatican Council.
- He highly values films that positively portray traditional gender roles, i.e. those which "advocate motherhood".
Quite an interesting fellow! Some of these points aren't too bad, and I type that as a proud Russian Jew. Your post also inspired me to read up about the fascinating history of Third Reich propaganda films after Kristallnacht, the various stories based on the real life of Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, and the career of Viet Harlan and his very, very predictable defense in court.
The one point that really cracked me up was this, though;
"- He thinks that no film "has really portrayed skinheads fairly.""
Yeah man, a bunch of LARPing retards worshipping a catastrophic, doomed regime that killed their own nation and largely destroyed Europe and white Western civilization, which they CLAIM to value, and would have likely interred or executed skinheads themselves for degeneracy (including the number of outright gay skinhead organizations, shades of Ernest Rohm) were just never given their proper shake in film!

I have been having some pretty intense fantasies about him fully committing to Blut und Boden through induction into a secret neo-Nazi cell embedded within the United States Navy and presided over by a sadistic corporal named Messershitz with a cigar habit and a taut rippling torso and a big, fat, hard, slightly curved 9-inch grappling hook...
And then they all tattoo "Welcome aboard, Mein Führer!" on each other's johnsons.
(That one's for the Down Periscope fans in the house!)
