Sharmila Tagore had classic good looks.

I think she was on Paulo's list. I don't think I've seen any of the films she was in. (I looked her up, and I would agree with you.)

Sorry, yes. I just pasted in my list. She's one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen.

OK. Forget about Carax for a while and catch up on Ray. ;)

@CMonster,

I like the Chris Cooper pick. I would have loved to have seen him in more films. I really liked him in Matewan.

@Paulo

Oh, I didn't realize she was Tagore was in The World of Apu--I've seen that one. But there's still a lot of Ray films I need to see.

Good call on Bette Davis and Magnani.

That's interesting. To me Robert Mitchum exemplifies classic Hollywood rugged handsome, and much of the charisma stems from his frame. (but quirkier than Rock Hudson, certainly).

Buster Keaton is a work of art.

Humphrey Bogart is cheating because he has the voice of a platypus being cooked over an open fire.

Jean-Paul Belmondo
Jean Gabin
Mathieu Amalric (?)

I didn't mean to imply Bob Mitchum was ugly, but I have always thought he looked pretty unconventional (ie. "without classic good looks") when looking at the unusual shape of his face and frame.

As for Buster, I think he's got one of the best faces comedy has ever known. Definitely a work of art, but certainly not classically good looking!
