Subscribed. I second Meiko Kaji.

Am I really the first one here to mention Dame Judi Dench, Isabella Rossellini, or Emma Thompson? Jesus Christ.

I've always been struck by the screen presence of Claudette Colbert, and of Joan Blondell (in her many career permutations), and of Isabelle Adjani.

Along the lines of Michelle Yeoh's contributions to cinema, I can't overlook Brigitte Lin.

I would've mentioned Brigitte Lin in my list as well, but didn't want to overload it with women mostly known for being in Asian action movies :P

And that's.... bad?
I say whatever artist makes the strongest impression over a series of works. Whatever works they may be.

Nicole Kidman could probably have scored a spot on my list in retrospect. Maybe just squeaking in at #20. Her recent work has really been impressing me

Hi,
Is this topic on the wrong board?
I think it should be moved to "Filmmakers".

No, actresses aren't "filmmakers"; they're just eye candy for the male gaze.

jk jk, I'm a feminist. I love broads.

Currently watching the TV series Broadchurch. Olivia Colman is really one fine actress, she is absolutely brilliant in the series. I have apparently watched her in many other movies but I don't recall her particularly - that's what I was surprised. Even in this series, the realisation came quite slowly.

You should check out more of her starring roles in that case. The big recent one to check out is The Favourite if you haven't seen it, and I can't recommend Tyrannosaur highly enough
