Sapranos - why so much fuss about the show?

Very few shows since The Sopranos have exceeded it. Certainly not Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Fargo, House of Cards. Mad Men probably did. True Detective when I'm drunk. Rectify absolutely. What else do people have in mind?

I haven't watched Boardwalk Empire or Game of Thrones or Fargo or Mad Men. But for me, Better Call Saul easily surpassed Sopranos. I rate Breaking Bad & House of Cards just a little below the Sopranos.
