Introducing the journal is a great step. This proves a way more helpful overview than using Most Recent Ratings or filtering the database.
A follow-up might be the functionality to enter multiple watch days per movie so the journal documents a user's watch history including re-watches.

Show just my kumpels: mini-reviews
Did you remove the mini-reviews in the "Show just my kumpels" tab on purpose? If it isn't a bug, was there any particular reason? I used it a lot, as it was quite handy if I wanted to check out a movie quickly and was able to read only some selected reviews.
