Re: Dream Combinations
Eva Green in a movie by Fincher with a soundtrack by Dario Marianelli. Zach Galifianakis in Coen Bros. movie. Jonathan Nolan writing a live action movie for Zemeckis. Bruno Delbonnel as a cinematographer for Shyamalan's movie. James Newton Howard (without the fuckin' Hans Zimmer) writing the soundtr...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
Great. Few comments, if you don't mind: Appreciating the movie probably depends to some extent on being able to view it as an allegorical parable rather than as really any kind of conventional "thriller." This is actually valid for all of his movies - they all are anything but conventional...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
For myself, the main reason the film was misunderstood was because, as critical audiences are wont to do, they took exception at implausibilities and absurdities in the narrative, thereby, however, and in my view, taking the film in the wrong way: as mentioned, it seemed to me that the movie is del...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
The Happening Attempts to create and inhabit an unreal dream world, rather than convey any kind of "realism." The method is a cinematically unusual relation to space (extreme close-ups and long-distance shots), time (shorts jumps in time between scenes and even shots) and character. Unfor...

ShogunRua, yeah, I've expected you to start shouting something like "You lose! I win! Bwahahahaha", but somehow you succeeded to fall even lower. If I was you, I would delete this last post - it is really embarrassing in every single word and I can't see how a reasonable person can take yo...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
No, it isn't. If two people are arguing, and A thinks X is "bad", and B thinks X is "good", then when B admits that parts of X were in fact bad, why the fuck does A need to go over it again when they're in agreement? I guess they don't teach elementary logic in Bulgaria, either?...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
Yes, AFTER the fact. This doesn't change the fact that patronizing glances are a part of life for weird, precocious little kids, which makes Cole's freak-out in that situation very poorly motivated. I have repeated 10 times: Cole is treated as an idiot ONLY by Stanley. That's why you get this compl...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
Firstly, he does not treat him like a "complete idiot". Rather, he honestly assumes that Cole is making things up, as children often do. Now you can argue whether that's "malicious" or not, but his OWN MOTHER reacts the same way later on in the film when he tells her what he see...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
A precocious kid is almost always treated like an idiot by those around him, since they cannot grasp his intelligence, and instead assume his statements are juvenile stupidity. This is true not only of Stanley, but of the kids Cole plays with, the psychologist played by Willis, his mother, and damn...

Re: M.Night Shyamalan
As much as I would like to keep going word-by-word like you it will be too much. So, please, try to understand the following: 1. No one in The Sixth Sense with the exception of Stanley is treating Cole as an idiot. This is the reason you see his "aggressive" behaviour only towards Stanley....
