Re: 100 actors you cannot stand
19. Tilda Swinton I can't really pinpoint what it is, I've never found their characters believable and her acting style is very stiff. I can almost stand her when she is the villain. I really agree with this one. Her acting style really rubs me the wrong way. And she always acts the same annoying w...

Holmes & Watson (2018)
It's not particularly good, but I've seen much, much worse.
Saw it at the cinema, and it was a good time. I laughed quite a few times. And cringed quite a few times as well.
Thoughts?

12. Tie between Jesse Eisenberg and Ansel Elgort. Both are just awful actors in my opinion, not at all believable in the roles they play, which aren't even particularly challenging roles. They singlehandedly detract from every scene they are in. This can ruin films if they have large roles.

Re: Do I need to see more bad movies?
I had the same issue when I first started on Criticker; most of the movies I was ranking were films I was confident I would like before watching them, and usually I ended up thinking they were good. To address some of the skew in my rankings I started watching movies that were widely acclaimed/admir...

Re: Kevin Spacey
Did you watch the video? Yes of course! I don't quite know what to think of it. He shows once again that he is brilliant as Underwood, but if he indeed is guilty this shows the highest disrespect towards his victims. He is however right that we should not judge too fast, so let's just wait and see ...

Re: 100 things I hate in movies
Good catch! I just grabbed that pic from google images and didn't notice the desklamp. Still, in my opinion, even with the lamp there the light is not remotely believable.

79. Lighting that is so obviously fake that it ruins the immersion. Oscar bait movies often have this; the room the scene takes place in has one light source yet there is perfect tangential lighting on both the main character's cheeks, and on their hair. Or the scene is taking place in a dark baseme...

Re: Patriots Day
Pretty much my reaction as well. I was amazed at not only the accuracy, but also at how much of the story I hadn't heard before -- despite following news reports at the time. Mark Wahlberg was of course brilliant, as he's been consistently for the last 15+ years. Anyone impressed by Patriots Day may...
