Relax, you haven't missed much. Bunch of shitty superhero movies, mostly.

Can't remember the little girl part, but the rest of it sounds very like the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Re: (very) old movies
If you want to see the very best that cinema has to offer you really owe it to yourself to venture back to the 50s or at the very least the 60s. The 60s was phenomenal. Lots of innovation and experimentation. This spirit of adventure carried on into the the 70s which was also amazing. But with the m...

Re: Do you watch movies if you don't understand the original language ?
My question is what to do generally if the movie is in an incomprehensible language. I'll watch it with subtitles without a moment's hesitation. I've seen films from over 100 different countries, and a lot of my favourite films of all time are in foreign (to me) languages. And Tarkovsky and Bergman...

14. Lame jump scares / loud music cues to shock people

Re: How do you rate ridiculously bad movies: 0 or >0 ?
I never really understood the concept of 'so bad it's good'. I usually try to avoid watching movies I think will be bad, and if I do happen to end up watching one that's ridiculously bad I'll just turn it off, because really bad movies just annoy me. Back when I used to go to the cinema I'd walk out...

So no Godfather, Jaws, Alien, 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Taxi Driver etc etc - not to mention hundreds of the best foreign movies ever made - for you then? Well, okay. If you're sure...

2019 Movie Calendar
Christmas is coming, and that means there'll be lots of people watching the likes of It's A Wonderful Life and other hardy perennials. I like the idea of watching a movie that has some significance on the day I watch it, so I thought I'd extend the idea to the rest of the year. These are the movies ...

Re: On what basis do you rate films ?
To get back to the original topic: I stipulate that nobody LIKES to be sad . I do (when watching movies, obviously not so much in real life). I further stipulate that most people prefer to feel good than to feel bad/sad . Yes, but when I'm watching a film 'feeling good' isn't a priority for me. I'v...
