Bug Fixes - September 22

Post by mpowell »

Time for another round of bug fixes! Here are some of the things we've been working on:

Average kumpel percentile problem
When filtering on Kumpels, we showed the line about the average kumpel percentage twice

Refresh Submission Charts on new Submission
When a new title was submitted, we weren't refreshing the charts which show off who the biggest contributors to Criticker are!

Adventure Genre in Games
Some genres such as "Adventure", "Horror", or "Action" were getting mixed up between games and films. That's been cleaned up.

Should Stars be a valid sort for all filters?
After this was reported by Scholar69420, we agreed that makes sense to allow Stars as a valid sort regardless of what the filter is. Previously, it had only been valid when filtering on "Reviews". But you might want to sort your Kumpels reviews on Stars, for example. Or view all ratings, putting those with starred reviews at the top. This has now been enabled. Further, we added a secondary sort on date-rated... previously, the ordering had kind of just been random. For example, if 10 people had 2 stars, those 10 weren't organized in any meaningful way.

Duplicate reviews on film page
This actually was related to the same bug as before, with random ordering playing havoc when additional ratings were lazy-loaded.

Rated tile appearing in unrated section
This was a confusing one, but good for us to take a look at. The problem boiled down to how we display SERIES you've rated vs. EPISODES (on a filmmaker's information page). If you had rated an episode the filmmaker starred in, but not the series, it was showing up in the "Unrated" section. But if you rated the series and not the episode, it was also showing up in the "Unrated" section.

We've changed this so that the title shows up in the "Rated" section if you've seen either an episode or the series. If you've not rated the series, it also appears in the "Unrated" section, along with a list of unseen episodes.

Database Filters reset when rating title
If you had set filters on the Database, those filters were being wiped out when you rated a title from the Database page. This has been fixed!

We've also fixed a number of performance bugs, including one that was bringing the site to a halt every evening at around the same time, and the Autocomplete for filmmaker searches.

Thanks again for all your support! We've got a lot more improvements and enhancements coming down the line soon!
