Not sure if there's a topic about this already, but is there any general consensus on what the best movie teasers/trailers are?
These 2 trailers are among the best I have seen:
Inception Trailer #3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziixLbLKBXU
The Dark Knight Trailer #1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT7lVb1VfH4
Don't forget to include a link if you mention one
Best trailers?
Re: Best trailers?
I've always had a love/hate thing with trailers, sometimes cursing them on tv, bemoaning "oh great - seen all the scenes I'll probably need to see in this puppy, including what would obviously be the climax, I would wager", and sometimes worshipping the bejesus out of them like the Something Weird video trailer series, with gut-busting treasures like the trailer for "Thar She Blows", which is such a stand-out that that trailer, alone, needs its own hall of fame. DURN I wish I could've found a link for that one.
A young teen in the late seventies, these two A-L-W-A-Y-S stuck with me:
"It's Alive"

"Magic"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezkx07HY ... re=related
the King of trailers? I've got a gut feeling one or two can guess before even checking it out.

Re: Best trailers?
This trailer is one of the best I have ever seen, and it gets bonus points because the film itself sucks;
I mean...it's perfect. The first 40-45 seconds are meant to kind of lull you to sleep, and then...bam! The fireworks begin. And then, just as you think the shooting and explosions have already hit their peak, it takes it to the next level, with a freaking bazooka launcher, and ends with some crazy, over-the-top scene of a man trying to take down a freaking car with a police baton! Awesome...

Magnolia: I like PTA's unconvential approach at the trailer, putting a spotlight on the characters rather than the story, the latter inevitably drawing them together by the end.
Watchmen: Having read the graphic novel, just the sheer collection of images got me pumped up for this film (nice song to accompany those images).
Ridley Scott's Alien: eerie, tense, claustrophobic, just wow
EDIT updated broken links

Re: Best trailers?
Probably my favorite:
It makes the film look much better than it actually is.
