Recommendations for deep meaningful movies
Re: Recommendations for deep meaningful movies
Haha, Quicky - the peacemaker You're right and I wanted to mention something similar, but I didn't want to waste too much energy on this guy/topic. I'm just curious if and how he'll react....

Am I invisible? Perhaps I need a shoutier avatar. Forums do nothing for my esteem.
Movies are cool. They are dug by me.

No, you're not. It's just that I noticed that quicky did some peace-keeping in other threads too...

Actually, your avatar looks quite interesting/artsy. Your own handy-work?

Ah, sorry. Please excuse my other forum induced paranoia.
My avatar is a photo. I've been looking for the site I originally found it on for a while now. It's of a child during Holi: The Indian Festival of Colors. I hope to go to India and partake, one day.
EDIT: found it:

... well I tried.
Re: Recommendations for deep meaningful movies
I really don't get it. You write a 'deep meaningful' list of mostly dull and pretentious films, people try to cope with it only slightly disagreeing and you insult them? Yeah, you're right, nevermind. This [i]is[/u] absurd.

FTWS wrote:I like really deep movies that express lots of meaning in them. A lot of the movies I watch are spiritual, but don't necessarily need to be. Here are some of my favorite movies purely in alphabetical order:
Crash (2004)
Donnie Darko (2001)
Fight Club (1999)
The Illusionist (2006)
Memento (2001)
No Country for Old Men (2007)
Peaceful Warrior (2006)
Vanilla Sky (2001)
Waking Life (2001)
What Dreams May Come (1998)
What the #$*! Do We Know?! (2004)
I'm not sure if you are joking or not. You are sort of contradicting yourself, here, do you like deep and meaningful movies, or the movie on this list? Ok I'll give you Crash, even though I hate it, I understand that people who like it consider it deep...And Donnie Darko could be considered deep. The problem is, I'm not sure if you want deep and meaningful films, but you haven't seen any better than these, or you like these kind of films. No country for old men is meaninful I guess yo could say. If you like No Country for Old Men, you should watch more Coen Bros. Fargo and Blood simple are very similar. If you like multiple stories intertwining, like Crash, you should see Magnolia and Short Cuts, both 1000 times better. And also Babel. Irreversible is the same reverse chronology thing as Memento, but very different.

I'm going to recommend Orlando [1992] to you, FTWS. It's not everyone's cup of tea for sure, but when I saw it for the first time it felt like the movie reached into my body and grabbed my soul. Powerful.
