Any reason why some titles have 4 genres when others have more?

Any reason why some titles have 4 genres when others have more?
I'm just wondering if there's a reason to this limitation, since IMDB tends to have more than 4 genre in a lot of media

But, wouldn't it be better if we had more than 4 genres as a default. I feel like 4 might be too small of a number. Wouldn't it be possible to increase the number to like 6?
