Peter O'Toole (1932-2013)

Post by ewp805 »

Rest in peace, Peter O'Toole. He passed away yesterday, December 14th 2013, at the age of 81.

We lost another film icon with his passing, and he'll always be remembered for his legendary role in Lawrence of Arabia that launched his lauded career.

O'Toole was a bit one-dimensional, playing the same role constantly through his career, but that one role was really fucking good.

Apparently I've seen five of his movies, but I only remember him in Lawrence of Arabia. Becket and The Stunt Man both look pretty good...

Yeah, but he'll always be, as minimalistic as this may seem, to be at a pinnacle, for his (voice) portrayal of Anton Ego in Ratatouille. Yeah I know, Lawrence of Arabia is a classic, but, that role, particularly his concluding narration, really meant something--and I think he knew it.

He was on my death list for this year. I was already winning by a shit ton, but every little bit extra helps to woo and awe the plebs.

What was the rest of your death list? And where were you playing? Over on Cinemageddon, the competition is positively cut-throat!

What a morbid game.

Where can I get in on it?
