Apocalyptic movie

Hi,

I'm searching for an apocalyptic movie where a toxic cloud threatens the world. It's the aftermath of World War 3 and Australia is the only safe place on the world left. It's more drama than an action film. I think it's from early 2000 or late 90's.

Yeah Stewball is right. It's "On the Beach", but it's the 2000 made for TV version that you're looking for

Strange that neither movie or the novel consider retreating to Antarctica, particularly since they originally thought it might fade out before it made it to Australia. Grab a few women, nuclear sub, who knows? And then there's the possible mine shaft gap to consider.
