Defense of the Ancients

Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is a multiplayer online battle arena mod for Warcraft III, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The popularity of the mod led to Valve acquiring the intellectual property rights for DotA and a standalone sequel, DotA 2, was released in 2013.
