Visually some of the character designs and things you see are really nice, but then the game looks a little cheap at the same time with the way all the tiles are just copy/pasted. It's an odd contrast between beauty and cheapness. Besides that, the music is wonderful, and the game is quite challenging. There's a part early on that was subtle but emotional, and that set the stage for the plot, which was endearing and sad.
