The novelty of this game was the autonomy of your heroes, making this more of a simulation than a typical real-time strategy game. The beauty of the original is sitting back and watching your heroes get to work. The disappointment of the sequel is that they only apparently followed this formula; in reality, the heroes in the second installment do not get anything done without your influence. Rangers do not explore alone, warriors do not raid monster lairs. This makes the first superior, to me.
