The current champion of fighting games, no doubt. I'll never git gud at it and I probably won't ever play it again unless Kiryu is announced as DLC character, but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Whilst this is my first introduction to fighting games, after playing Tekken 7 my perception of the genre was irrevocably altered. The amount of depth, mind games, complexity, and downright luck involved in this game is mind-boggling, and once you start learning frame data and punishes there's no going back. But, as a drawback, it takes time to get used to it. Your first couple of online matches are going to be brutal.

Aside from disappointing stages and a slightly weakened roster -- them removing my two back-up characters in Lei and Ganryu was a bummer -- it's a solid step forward from 6 in terms of presentation and feel. The original music is no great shakes, but the option to use previous Tekken games' soundtracks sweetens the deal. I can't rate it higher because the main reason to play it is poorly optimized and single-player is bad, but it's probably the best fighting game of all time, mechanically.
