Technically it's just the same game emulated adding a few QoL features and with a remastered soundtrack (optional) that for me felt emotionally the same as the original (but if you compare it side by side, there's a real quality improvement). That said, the original was awesome and this one doesn't deserve any less, just don't expect a picture remaster, HD graphics or anything like that.
