We've just checked out a lot of new bug fixes, and one new site enhancement -- something we hope to expand on more in the future! Without further ado, here are the changes which have just dropped.
New Feature
Notifications when titles are added to a collection you've saved
Remember that little bell icon which debuted with our big March rebrand? At first, all it did was alert you that you had new unread messages. But now, it does so much more!!!
Well, that's an exaggeration: for now it just does one other minor thing, but we've laid the groundwork for much more! From now on, when films are added to a collection you've saved, you'll be alerted to that. You can also click through to the collection in question, and see the just-added titles.
Some caveats are that this script that generates the notifications runs just once a day (we don't want to ping you with 25 notifications, if someone adds 25 titles to a collection over the course of an hour). Also, if you already have a notification for "Criterion Collection", we won't add another. Also, we purge notifications that are a week old.
This is just the beginning of what we hope develops into a rich system of notifications, for all sorts of activity at Criticker ... such as a favorite filmmaker appearing in a new title, or someone starring one of your mini-reviews. Hope you like this new improvement!
Bug Fixes
Cast tab on title page persists - This was a weird, niche issue where if you go to "https://www.criticker.com/film/some-title/#cast" when you're on a desktop page, it will show the cast twice.
Mobile: IMDb link missing - Indeed, we just weren't showing it anywhere. On mobile, this and the other links which appear in the desktop sidebar were meant to be found on the cast tab.
Invalid Link for Other Recs TV Series - There was a typo in the link on the Recommendations page, which led to TV Series
Rating, Ranking, or Score - A good suggestion here to choose term or the other. Over the course of Criticker's lifetime, we've used all three a little interchangeably, so have decided that we'll call them "RATINGS". You'll still see the word "score" in the term Probable Score Indicator, but we really didn't want to have to rename the PSI! It's literally a household term everybody in the world already knows!! Chaos would ensue!
Movie collections list next page not working - On the Title Information Page, you weren't able to paginate to Page 2 of collections, by using the arrows. Clicking on the page numbers "2", "3", etc always worked, but now the arrows do as well!
Distinct tab titles for bug report pages - A really great suggestion to help make the Bug tabs a little more easily navigable.
Navigation Options for Games - When on Criticker Games, it made no sense to have a navigation item be "Filmmakers". That's been removed.
