Despite how much this game is meme'd up for being shallow and poorly designed (even I do it at times) there are honestly plenty of games that have shallower combat. With that said, that doesn't make DW5 particularly good - while there is a lot of content and campaigns to play through, it's mostly recycled maps with mashy gameplay. The higher difficulties do require you to be smarter with positioning, but ultimately this just turns enemies into boring damage sponges that do way too much damage.
