It takes away a lot of what made the first game cool. The weapon mixing is gone, throws have been removed, and the animations are worse. In terms of level design, the game recycles a lot from the original game but makes it worse with neat but poorly designed/boring gimmicks. The bosses have been simplified from the first game by making their patterns more one-dimensional and having less of the dynamic gimmicks of the first. This game isn't bottom of the barrel garbage, but it's pretty bleh.
