To be fair, it's not like they had many good investigation games to copy off of. But the weird point-and-click adventure they ended up with is severely lacking. Multiple stages of the evidentiary process fill an inventory you have to empty repeatedly despite not knowing what's going to come back. Even with the magnifying glass upgrade, it's hard to make out a lot of clues. The timer is impossible without the upgrade and meaningless with it. And the story is all the flaws of the show magnified.
