The jump to 3D from 2D has been awful for the X series - the 3D models look terrible and the animations are janky, made worse by incredibly bland environments. The gameplay is also awful - while previous lackluster X games suffered from bad level design and questionable design decisions, they still felt good to play. Boss battles take forever to kill, the sound design is absolute ear rape, Controls feel unintuitive and impossible to control when you're Zero, etc. How did X fall this low?
