One of the first of a wave of throwback shooters and the first game from a very small team, 'Project Warlock' definitely has some teething pains (the third of four levels is by far the most difficult; there is no usable map; the legibility of the action is sometimes lacking), but its winningly handsome presentation and commitment to distilling the classic FPS experience rather than slavishly imitating it make it a joy to play through.
