Red Faction

Completely mediocre and extremely Half-Life inspired shooter! The destructible environment feature isn't enough to enhance the boring gameplay and level design enough to make it a fun game!

Great game and an early example of destructible environment used in actual gameplay.

Dig the goofy, pulpy plot of the game complemented by its hammy dialog and voice acting. That aside, it has a lot of neat ideas that don't get fully realized. For example, the destructive environments are never used creatively and when it's a solution it's always obvious. Some sections are just horribly design, notoriously the stealth section but the vehicle sections were kinda dull too. The game is fast-paced and shooting feels good, but it's outclassed by many other shooters at the time.
