The enemy design in this game is rudimentary in order to accentuate the power of aoe but I feel the character gimmicks and cool ways to extend combos make up for that and the "boss" enemies are just a good enough level of aggressive and punishing to at least keep you on your toes. I think the game could do more with movement and defensive options to allow for stronger wave aggression, but the series is so over the top and so kinesthetically good that I can't help but be absorbed by its energy.
