Shenmue II

Shenmue II

2001
Action, Fighting
Like the original Shenmue, the player controls teenage martial artist Ryo Hazuki in his journey for revenge. Most of the game is spent exploring the game's open world, searching for clues, examining objects and talking to non-player characters for information. The game features a 3D fighting system similar to Sega's Virtua Fighter series; Ryo can fight multiple opponents at once and practice moves to increase their power.

SHENMEN. i still remember just randomly renting it one day but loving it, and the arm wrestling lmao and all the random shit you could do. wishing i was better at getting into the combat and could spend more time learning from martial arts masters. i was too young and inexperienced to play the rpg elements and story properly though. but i still remember having a hotel right lol and i remember being like hey this takes fable shit extra far

Shenmue is the most overrated "cult classic" video game ever made. Shenmue 2 is also that, and it doesn't even take place in Japan. Heed my advice and just play the Yakuza games instead. What you seek in Shenmue you'll probably find in Yakuza.
