The humor I guess they had in mind didn't really come through so much in the original version but the SCI remake from a few years later is a lot better. The opening scene of this game where you wake up in a space ship well under attack with most of your fellow crew slaughtered is a legit brilliant pulse pounding intro to a game. The desert planet and enemy space cruiser sections that follow are totally solid too.
