92% Rise of the Third Power (2022) - Jul 19, 2022
"Most modern but SNES styled JRPGs that hit the indie scene are short and lazy, so it was a delight to play a new one that was a legit full-sized FF6 / Chrono Trigger length game. Complete with a fresh battle system, tons of areas on the map, crafting and skill trees, relics, lots of optional end game content like a good SNES JRPG should have, superbosses, etc. Pixel art real sharp and colorful and pretty. Hints of “The Message” seeping in at the edges, but only hints and everything else great."
68% Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (1999) - Jun 16, 2022
"Solid Mario Bros on the go; memories of playing it in the back of my parents’ car."
82% Resident Evil 2 (2019) - Jun 08, 2022
"I had to tap out on the remake of 1 because I just couldn’t do it with the tank controls, but this was much more like it. Actually enjoyed running from zombies and Mr X and turning the red map rooms of the police station blue one by one, and thank god there’s hip pouches that let you expand your inventory to actually useful levels. Only issue why did I pick up tons of blue poison heal plants through the whole game when I only actually got poisoned and had to use one… *drumroll* …once."
22% Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) - May 31, 2022
"More or less just a brawler and a fairly unremarkable one."
22% Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (2005) - May 31, 2022
"Something about the magic of the previous game Superstar Saga just didn’t quite carry over here. The large interconnected world map was changed to simple nodes on a Mario World style world map and that was a bummer."
22% Pokémon Black & White (2010) - May 31, 2022
"I actually enjoyed Diamond and Pearl so back then I kept buying new Pokémon games thinking I could get back into the series, but I really couldn’t."
68% Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (2007) - May 31, 2022
"It’s very likely my opinion might sour if I went back to play it today, but at the time playing it during my crappy part time college job in 2007 I enjoyed it. A bit reminiscent of Sierra “Quest” games, but the stylish noir detective aesthetic appealed a lot more than the overly realistic Police Quest games ever did."
22% Resident Evil (2002) - May 12, 2022
"I gave it the sincere and open minded college try for a week or so of gaming nights but I just couldn’t do it. Endless hours making clueless circles around the mansion, dealing with this bizarre “cinematic camera angles” presentation/play control, and the inventory where my character can apparently carry about four pounds of equipment. Had to tap out."
36% Final Fantasy VIII (1999) - Feb 24, 2022
"JUNCTION MY ASS *20 page tutorial about how to junction ass comes up*"
51% Far Cry 6 (2021) - Feb 24, 2022
"I found myself kind of mostly enjoying the pure bang bang shoot ‘em up action of liberating the outposts while more tolerating anything else (story events, side quests, treasure hunting etc). Even story wise is ultimately felt like it came to a mildly anticlimactic fizzle. Mechanics and world exploration are fine but fail to improve on Far Cry 3 4 5."
