Star Trek: 25th Anniversary

1992
Adventure
The game is split into two main modes, a main bridge view, and a third-person mode whenever an away team is transported to a planet or space station. During several combat sequences the player controls the Enterprise in battle against enemies in space; originally required, Interplay later offered a patch making them optional. (wikipedia.org)

Some great tight rope walking between interactive fiction and upholding the 1992 standard of a good point-and-click adventure. The ship combat sucks and holds this one back. Think first person asteroids with system micromanagement and mouse control that needs to be frequently disabled to manage systems. If there were hotkeys, I wouldn't know. It's an adventure game. The only part of the manual I ever used was the map the game used for copy protection. Combat could have been done with menus.
