i bought this game not once, not twice, but thrice! Yeah, I am an idiot, as my funding might have contributed to the inevitable downfall of this story AND both NDs. it was good while it lasted, though.

The Last of Us is a profound exercise in Levinasian ethics. Joel begins in conatus essendi—pure self-preservation. Ellie functions as the "Face," an epiphany that ruptures his ego, commanding infinite responsibility. This isn't a choice, but a hostage situation where subjectivity is defined by obligation to the Other. The game reveals that love is not a comfort, but a trauma: to answer the call of the specific Face, one may be forced to reject the abstract logic of the entire world. - Full Review
