The classic Wizardry formula was suitable for short, focussed scenarios where the capricious RNG mechanics could be tolerated or alleviated without becoming unbearably frustrating. Sadly Wizardry 5 is a big scenario with huge maps and some extremely tough enemies. This game tested my patience; ultimately I just grew bored of grinding and save scummed my way through the final battle. Happy to be done with it. On a positive note, the encounter frequency is pleasantly low. [played on PSX]

Wanted to like it but SNES's version was clunky, disruptive, and I felt like I was always jogging in place trying to get my party off the ground. Skippable.
