"This was one of the better games in the "My mom won't let me buy GTA" genre."

"Protip: You get the bad ending if you don't beat the game in co-op. I hot-seated all 100 levels with a friend one day because we only had one controller, and we got the bad ending because of that."

"Part Zelda, part God of War, part... Portal? I guess? Decent, but not as good as any of its obvious inspirations"

"Overall, I think they made something even better than Brawl, and close to Melee's quality level. The actual fighting feels as good as ever, but this game's adventure mode is one of the worst. World of Light is a slog, and the implementation of spirits means you effectively decide the difficulty of each fight, except the hardest ones which basically boil down to luck and cheesing the AI. But Classic mode and regular ol' Versus modes are all you need."

"It's a neverending cycle of gathering resources, producing items from those resources, automating the gathering or more resources, and automating even further item production to gather and automate even more, while dealing with crises like electricity consumption and enemy attacks. In a way, it's really relaxing, and in a way, it's also bizarrely stressful."

"It really shows that the director of the other Souls games was absent for this one. Level design is less inspired, the world layout doesn't make sense, enemies are given unreasonably high amounts of health so that they're more tedious than they are difficult, they brought back farmable healing items, but also made it possible for enemies to permanently die. Overall a much sloppier presentation."

"The controls feel great, in my opinion even better than Galaxy, and maybe even Sunshine. The "stars" have kind of an experimental nature in this one, very similar to what Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild. Just like how that one removed their dungeons in favor of smaller "shrines" this one spreads several moons throughout each level and involves accomplishing a variety of smaller mini-objectives to find them, rather than entering the level repeatedly for a single goal each time."

"The only RPGs I really played from the NES era were Final Fantasy 1 and this. I loved FF1 despite all its glitches and otherwise poor programming, and I liked this one a lot too. I did a complete playthrough recently, and found myself enjoying it even more than Earthbound on the SNES. Maybe that will change if I do a fresh playthrough of the sequel though."
