nevertheless, i think about it a lot.
and then i have memories of discussions about it with other people, and the emotions spurred - so it's linked with memories in my life (which should probably always happen with art, yet never normally does with me).
Are those positive emotions and memories, about the movie I mean? I mean look here now, we're having a discussion about it right now. I get emotional about movies all the time, and it's unseemly for me; angry at the idiotic ones, and misty eyed at the ones that grab me. As many times as I've seen The Accountant, when the music starts for the last sequence.....

i don't understand what that has to do with it. sorry
talking about that film helped develop relationships that had been stagnating. i remember those evenings.
i get caught in patterns in work, and forget to self-reflect. it's nice to get a slap in the face by a film like this now-and-then.

Trying to list 5 without caveats...
The Act of Killing (2012)
A Serious Man (2009)
Tôkyô sonata (2008)
Kotoko (2011)
Love Exposure (2008)
Children of Men (2006) is edged out by three weeks.

Re: Top five of the last ten years
And my top five documentaries from the same period:
A couple that come very close are El botón de nácar and Un voyageur. Oppenheimer is no doubt a very promising documentarian, but I wasn't quite persuaded to completely accept the ethics of An Act of Killing, and The Look of Silence is very good but not quite at the level of those listed above.
- 1. Adam Curtis: All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace, The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom, It Felt Like a Kiss, and HyperNormalisation
2. Nostalgia for the Light
3. La danse – Le ballet de l'Opéra de Paris
4. Photographic Memory
5. Pina.

As my ratings currently stand ...
The Dark Knight
Hot Fuzz
Mad Max: Fury Road
Zodiac
I then have four tied on the same rating for 5th spot
Grand Budapest Hotel
Scott Pilgrim vs The World
The Lego Movie
Ratatouille
Which I would probably rank in that order if pushed.
