A hit in the arcades for Irem for bringing the sport into the era of colorful sprite graphics. It's super-simplified (no picking plays here) and kind of slow-paced, but playable. Naturally, it would be thoroughly overshadowed down the line by Tecmo Bowl and dozens of other games since, but it had its reign for a year or two.

The first football game released on the NES. Pretty bad compared to Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl which were the best football games on the platform.
