I know that the seizure-inducing visuals are meant to be stylish but they're just kind of obnoxious and get in the way. However, the gameplay is king here. Shooting a well-placed bomb leads to combos that feel incredibly satisfying, even in the early levels when you can just sit there and feel the points racking up. And really, that's all that matters, because you're not coming to this for the story.
