I mean, I was glad to have it, and it was technically proficient and an overall positive experience. I kind of liked the goblin Shaman. But sticking such a linear game in between two open-world games doesn't feel like Beamdog fully "gets it". Received a lot of flak for being infused with wokeness, and while noticeable I didn't think it was cripplingly bad to be honest.

I know that Beamdog poured a lot of effort into SoD, brought back the old voice actors to record new lines,... and yet the game bored me stiff. It was probably a bad move for the dev team that their first attempt at making a video game would be an instalment in such a well-known series. But just for the record: guys, BG1 and BG2 were set in an open world and featured big cities. SoD only opens up one or two maps at a time and mostly takes place in nondescript wilderness areas. What gives?
